Eco-friendly freezer bags that can be composted at home. Vegan and made from organic plant based materials. Although they’re called freezer bags, they’re suitable for lunch boxes and normal storage too. They’re made from a special bioplastic that upcycles plant residues from food production.
This is very different to normal plastic as it is compostable, biodegradable and free from nasty little microplastics. Not only is it zero-waste, it also has a year long shelf life so it can be reused over and over. Despite its versatility, it’s not suitable for microwaves.
I've cut down on our use of food bags but for the odd occasion when nothing else will do, these are great. I haven't noticed any disadvantages compared with plastic. When I've used them (often several times) I cut them open to use as liners for our food waste bin. I'm about to order more - just wish there was a 1L size as I'd buy those too.
